This quick tour is strongly recommended for new users, and is designed to get users to be highly productive in the shortest amount of time possible. It lists the main functionalities and productivity tools, together with descriptions and examples. Additional explanations and help are available in the Capital Electra X help files.

Relationship between symbols and components

In Capital Electra X, all symbols always has a reference (e.g. R1) and are initially organized into a single group, where they can be assigned to one or more components. Users can then divide these symbols into further groupings, where each group can also be assigned to one or more components.

Drawings and the component database

Once you completed your schematics, you should use Manage components to assign components to your symbols. Component information, including dimensions are stored on a component database, so that these information can be easily reused without the need to type them all over again.

Once you assigned the components, the component information are copied and stored inside your drawings. This ensures portability, where any changes to component databases will not affect your drawings.
