In Electra E7, placing and arranging panel layout drawings is easier and faster with automatic placement. Simply drag and drop layout symbols onto rails and they'll be automatically arranged. Once arranged, layout symbols continue to stick onto rails when moved, just like in the real world.
The results are more intuitive panel layout arrangements done quicker and easier than ever before.
When working on large, sophisticated projects, it may be advisable to separate drawings into multiple pages and use page prefix to denote symbol references and wire names. Once enabled, Electra will insert and maintain all your page prefixes automatically.
Engineering change is a fact of life, and page prefixes enables you to insert, delete or move your pages on the fly, producing better and safer electrical designs, without labor intensive and error prone manual updating.
Using, counting, generating and numbering terminals is a snap in Electra. Terminal symbols will automatically show black when placed on a wire, otherwise it will be shown in red. Generated terminal listings automatically display wire names, and these names get automatically updated and synchronized even when they are modified elsewhere.
Terminal block symbols will automatically count terminal listings and with a simple right click, numbers the terminal listings and have the numbering reflected on terminal symbols.
Electra can handle multi-tier terminals as shown below. After terminal listing, simply arrange terminals to ensure they are in parallel, either vertically or horizontally, for the Terminal Block to identify stacked, multi-tier terminals and count them as a single unit.
Produce highly accurate electrical drawings complete with terminal numbering, easier, faster and with far less errors for incomparable productivity gains.
Producing panel layout drawings have never been easier and faster. Just click on the "Generate All" button on the "Generate Layout" dialog box and Electra will automatically generate all panel layout components based on your electrical schematics. Should you make modifications on your schematics, use the 'Generate All' button again to automatically synchronize between schematics and panel layout drawings.
Panel layout symbols are generated based on their component sizing automatically. For example, when you create a Siemens contactor with a certain dimension and assign it to a symbol, Electra will automatically generate a panel layout symbol based on the same dimensions.
Your design and development cost gets radically reduced, and efficiency gains trickle down to the shop floor where accurate panel layout drawings eradicates many communication and supervisory problems.
Autocad drawings can be imported into Visio and converted into native Visio shapes. These shapes can then be grouped and converted into any Electra symbols. Drawings can be downloaded from manufacturer's website to be imported and converted to panel layout symbols. Photos and images can also be easily dropped onto Visio and used as panel layout symbols.
Re-use your existing symbols from AutoCAD without much work. Download drawings from manufacturer to be included in panel layout for great looking panel layout drawings.
Drastically cuts report generation time by using report symbols on Electra where users can insert these reports into their electrical CAD drawings at any stage of their electrical design. Generated reports automatically auto-fit and have options to disable or enable columns. If they overflow, another shape will automatically be created, allowing reports to be spanned over multiple pages.
Electra provides the following reports for unprecedented productivity increase when compared to manual report generation, freeing engineers to perform other important task rather than counting components.
Exporting reports is just a matter of a single click of a menu in Electra. All reports are exportable to Excel or tab separated values (tsv) at any stage of your electrical CAD design.
Exported reports can be accessed and edited by non-engineers for conversion into invoices, purchase orders or quotations. Being able to export data easily not only improves productivity for the engineering team, but the productivity trickles down to administration staffs where these data can be easily used to improve on the company's bottom line.
Importing data in batches onto a drawing means more than just easy editing, for example "workmanship" can be inserted and imported into a drawing, and Electra can then generate a Bill of materials (BOM) that includes workmanship pricing.
On many occasions, editing data on a spreadsheet is simply easier, where manufacturer's data can be copied, pasted and edited far faster. Once edited, these reports can be imported back into Electra with just a simple click of the menu. Dimensions, quantities and pricing can all be edited and imported in batches. In addition, users get to choose all symbols, or only a small sub set, during both export and import, therefore making these editing small and manageable.
Creating and managing ladder diagrams have never been easier. Drag and drop symbols or wires onto ladder rungs, and they will be automatically renamed according to their rung numbers.
When a rung height is increased, wires and symbols are automatically moved to follow the rung height. LadderZones are easily customizable using right click, be it starting numbers or number of cells it contains.
Electra uses an unprotected Access format database to store all information as it is highly portable and can be easily shared. Users with Access installed can open the database and edit component information directly.
Component specifications can be exportable to Excel where editing is a breeze. Specifications can also be downloaded from manufacturer websites to be imported back into the database using numerous formats including tab separated values (tsv) or comma separated values (csv).
Component specifications in Electra are organized by categories. For example, when selecting components for a relay symbol, users will be presented with multiple relays in the "Relay" category. Categories simplify component selection, and still offers the ability to select outside a category using search functions.
Organizing components and categories is super easy, simply drag and drop components to their categories and you're done. Components can appear in one or more categories for even more flexibility.
Create fantastic looking Title Blocks with logos, scales and page information using Electra's built in title block symbols. Once created, double click on any title block to edit information, or choose to create your own title block data and specify whether to have these data apply throughout the document or on a single page only.
Drop the Table Of Content (TOC) symbol and right click to have Electra automatically generate a Table of Contents for all the pages in your drawing, for quick and easy reference.
Since Microsoft Visio is part of Microsoft Office, therefore Electra and Visio is tightly integrated into Microsoft Office. Users can embed Electra drawings into Microsoft Word documents and have the document automatically updated when you edit an Electra drawing.
Use integrated Office tools like spelling checker, collaboration and review tools to help create sophisticated documentation for your systems and machines without requiring any training for those already familiar to Microsoft Office.
